How To Draw A Blue Jay Easy

Steps

  1. 1

Start by drawing the beak of the bird. The beak is shaped as a slanted triangle, but it is fact a hidden pyramid. The bottom of the beak needs to be shaded.

  2. 2

Draw the head of the bird. The head is curved, and at the top, try to draw a tuft of small, messy feathers. It should look like a big triangle, just like the beak.

  3. 3

Draw the bird's curved body. The Blue Jay is known to be buff because it has a lot of feathers. Starting down from the beak, the body is shaped like an oval. This oval should be wide but it should not reach the bird's tail feather.

  4. 4

Draw the neck of the bird. Erase a slight part of the oval near the head and draw a straight line. Draw a small squiggly polygon going across the neck. This part is separating the head and the rest of the body.

  5. 5

For the tail, draw a small parallelogram. Add lines going across the tail and lines going down/up. The end of the tail should have a slight tuft where small feathers should be popping. Draw a little semi-circle connecting the body and the tail.

  6. 6

On the oval, sketch two triangles going down. These are going to be the bird's wings. The triangle closest to you (Triangle 1) should be drawn in the middle of the body. The triangle farther from you (Triangle 2) should be small and shaded. A line should be drawn on the oval in the middle of the bird's neck.

  7. 7

Add designs to the wings. It's simpler than it looks. Draw lines up and down and across. This is the same step as drawing the tail. Add little tufts at the top of Triangle 1 going across.

  8. 8

Draw the legs. Draw slanted rectangles ending with a triangle-shaped curve. Begin to draw the bird's feet, which are a set of four toes; three in the front and one in the back.

  9. 9

Draw the eyes. There should only be one because the bird is looking at the side.

  10. 10

This is optional, but you could add a little branch where the bird can be seen sitting. Draw a long, detailed rectangle. This means it shouldn't be a normal rectangle; it should look like a squiggly rectangle like most tree branches. Add little slim branches coming from the sides of the rectangles.

  11. 11

Color the bird blue. It's a Blue Jay after all! If you think blue doesn't go well for the bird, add any color you wish instead. Black should be used for the squiggles of the neck.

  12. 12

Done! Admire the fascinating bird you just drew.
