Can I Use Hydrogen Peroxide To Fix Makeup

I'grand going to start a piffling series of posts on my blog near my quick tips and tricks for beauty, style, and all things life related.  If I have any helpful cognition that I use from time to time, I want to be able to share it and hopefully help anyone who needs information technology!  Look for the new tab upwardly at the superlative of my page labeled "TIPS/TRICKS" to keep up with this series :]

Anyhow, here is my first tip/trick:  how to set up a broken/shattered pulverization compact or shadow, or basically whatsoever powder product in a container -- blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, anything!

It happens to the best of u.s.a..  You are shuffling around your makeup drawer and accidentally drop your favorite eyeshadow.  You attain into your pocketbook and pull out your powder foundation to touch upwardly, only to open it and run across a crumbled mess.  Just instead of falling into a pile on the floor and crying, have no fright! There is a style to set up it!

All you need is a little tool to beat up your powder and shine information technology out, and some 90%+ rubbing booze.  In a few steps and a few hours, your powder product will be useable again!

Sadly, when I was cleaning upwards the top of my desk-bound, I watched my NYX blotting powder fall to the ground in slow move.  Since information technology's a actually delicate powder, I knew the fate my poor meaty had suffered without even looking.

Insert tears hither.  Simply no, not actually, because I knew there was a way to fix it.

Kickoff, take something apartment and little (I used the opposite end of my Tweezerman tweezers, but any fiddling tool will work!  I too like using a small, dull butter pocketknife) and start crushing up the powder even more.  Yes, I know this seems counter intuitive, but trust me gurl.

Keep crushing it until it becomes a loose powder.  Some products will be easier to beat out than others.  Because mine was a blotting powder, which is already really fine and translucent, it was very easy to exercise this.  If y'all're fixing a dense, compacted eyeshadow, it'll exist a little more fourth dimension consuming.  But don't stop mashing and burdensome until information technology'due south like the consistency of flour.

When it's all done, it should look like this.

Brand certain you are using a 90%+ solution of isopropyl (rubbing) booze for this.  What it does is binds the powder product together and and so as it dries, it completely evaporates, leaving only a solid pulverisation again!  So the higher the alcohol content, the faster it'll dry and evaporate.  And don't try to use anything else for this step, like center drops, contact solution, hydrogen peroxide, etc.  -- the KEY is using a loftier per centum rubbing alcohol!  If y'all utilise any other watery solution, your compact will stay wet and never completely dry correctly.

Depending on the size of your compact or container, add a TINY bit of alcohol at a time, mixing it to create a paste.  A few drops at a time will do.  Call up: you can e'er add together more than, but you lot tin't accept it away.

Continue adding and mixing until your powder turns to something like peanut butter (mine actually happened to exist the color of peanut butter, too!  But obviously if you lot're fixing, say, a purple eyeshadow, it'll be regal).

Really effort to smooth it out on the top.  Your compact was about probable smooth and flat to begin with, then try equally hard every bit yous can to flatten the paste out on the superlative.  This is easier said than washed, because trying to flatten peanut butter with a spoon is near impossible.  Then it won't come out perfect, but do the best yous can!

Make clean up around the edges with a tissue or a cotton swab, merely to make it expect a little neater.

It should look like this when you're all washed!

Now -- leave it on a windowsill, counter acme, or anywhere that you won't exist tempted to keep checking in on.  This office is hard, considering you don't desire to disturb it or bear on it for at least a few hours.  You should preferably get out information technology untouched overnight!  And brand sure you don't cover information technology up!  Leave the production uncovered while it's drying, then the alcohol can completely evaporate.

When information technology's all dried, it'll look similar a pulverization again!

Look!  I know it sort of looks similar the surface of the moon, but whatever.  With a few uses, it'll be pretty flat and back to normal again!  Your powder production has been saved!!

You can also take a cotton swab again and clean up the little $.25 of pulverization that stale on the outside of the compact.. simply actually, who'due south looking that closely at your makeup.  As long every bit it works!

Test out the dryness of your powder by gently rubbing the surface and feeling for dampness or sponginess.  If it feels solid and powdery, and on your finger it looks like the powder it used to be, and so you're all washed!

But think to keep a little canteen of rubbing alcohol with you, and whenever fate decides to take 1 of your favorite compacts or eyeshadows away from you lot.. now you know what to do :]
