I have a bunch of 17" Irwin dolls with ugly faces, so I'm going to repaint them and encounter if that doesn't improve them somewhat.

To practice this, you need:
1) acetone nailpolish remover - you can go it at whatever store, simply make Certain information technology is acetone
two) q-tips
3) baking powder/soda
4) patience

Expect to spend 30-xl minutes doing this. It is actually fairly difficult to remove the paint, but information technology is much easier to smudge information technology around :/ The paint, contrary to conventionalities, doesn't just wipe off, it has to be carefully rubbed off. Then even if y'all become the acetone into areas you don't want removed, you tin simply wipe information technology off and the paint won't be touched.

Here you can see the untouched eye and the one I was working on for a bit.

Showtime I would suggest saturating the q-tip and covering the paint in it that yous want to remove. Information technology will accept a fleck to soak in, mayhap five minutes.

Next, take your q-tips and move over the paint in a scooping move. Don't do swirls or back and forth, exercise scooping. It will salvage you lot a lot of smeared paint and frustration.

SCOOP.

I also had some tissues handy for when it looked like the paint was smudging too much. The paint will be really soft for about a second, so if you can, y'all can apace try to flake some off with your boom. Not a necessary stride, but I'1000 kind of impatient.

It tin can be difficult to get into all of the crevices, like lips and such, so don't hesitate to squeeze the crap out of the head to get the various areas to pop out. That whore colored lipstick they put on her needs to go completely!

Somewhen your hard piece of work volition pay off and you'll go everything off, but it takes quite a lot of time and work.

Afterwards, wash the face up in soap and water, then mix some baking pulverization with some water and smear it all over the areas touched by the acetone. Acetone will swallow away at the vinyl if just left on there, so don't forget this!

Yay, all done!

Her hair'due south a mess so I'm soaking it in cloth softener and water.

The end.

I dunno what to practise with her actually! Maybe an Eternal? I have another doll I want to brand into Princess Serenity so I don't want to use this ane for that?

As much as I hate Eternal, I'd dear to see that :D

"That whore colored lipstick they put on her needs to go completely!"

lolol forever! Cheers for the tips, it actually helps!! :D

I've simply worked with resin dolls really, but have you lot tried winsor newton acrylic paint remover? (Brand certain you get acrylic and not oil).

That's what I use on my dolls? It tends to work really well on getting paint that is stubborn out, and information technology doesn't dry out as quickly as acetone?

It may be something to test some fourth dimension? on the back of a neck or something. I used information technology on my DD2 torso to remove blushing and acrylic, just that was what I'd painted on myself?

The only other thing I take tried is "make-remove" which is some Japanese paint remover. It works well plenty on things I take painted myself and other custom paint, merely for north american irwin dolls, it does cypher. It also removed pigment I had on a pocahontas doll, but it's not strong enough for other types of paint.

I dunno, acetone is what almost all ooak artists online employ, and that's especially for removing paint from north american dolls, like barbie and such. I am positive there is a sealer on peak of irwin dolls which is why I recommend the 5 min soak at first.

I'll def try this though, perchance it works better?

I use acrylic paint remover, besides. It is pretty quick to dissolve the paint on Irwin dolls. Also, I experience information technology removes the paint with much less smearing than the acetone method, and it doesn't look like it affects the experience of the doll textile, either.

Acetone totally works, I've used it with my resin dolls as well, but it tends to dry rapidly and therefore takes a flake longer. I'd give the winsor newton a shot. If it's not for you... y'all've got something that works! Only usually what I do for stubborn areas?

Dab on a scrap of the winsor newton acrylic paint cleaner (it's a brush cleaner that removes pigment from brushes)on the area to be removed. Usually I try to exercise a "drib" of it. I let it sit for a minute or two and so wipe. It's not got any acids so you shouldn't need to neutralize BUT information technology'south an extra precaution that wouldn't injure at all. It'll also help to remove whatever residue.

The soak will help, but usually with sealers information technology'south easier to take something that removes information technology. I know the winsor newton removes the Mr. Super Clear I use with little to no attempt. Simply don't permit it dry out on there (it'll go viscid eventually). Rinse with soap and h2o (the usual).

Couldn't hurt to try! I'd endeavor information technology on one of the dolls I've got laying around... simply no one needs a repaint! XD;

I'll definitely pick some up soon and see if it works improve, thanks for the tip!

I hope it will exist of assistance! :D

Does this work with any kind of doll? Similar barbies?

Crawly! Thanks for posting this! I was wondering how to go the paint off. =P

wow, material softener works on doll pilus? :O *didn't know this*

Well, it is plastic, so regular shampoos or conditioners won't piece of work because they react to the oils in your hair. Wig conditioner/shampoo would also work merely most people don't have that sitting around their houses.

Great step by pace on removing face paint, with the details and pictures. Thanks for showing.

I can't wait to encounter what y'all do with the dolls!

This is incredibly helpful! Thanks for posting!

(Calculation to my memories.)
